Ida Mae recounts the life of an older African American woman who is seeing a therapist due to flashbacks she has been having. When Ida Mae was a young woman she witnessed a lynching. For years she has blocked memories of the incident out of her mind. After all, she was busy caring for her family. But her children are grown now and her life's slower pace finds old events surfacing in her subconscious.
