The launch of this website is due to coincide with the launch of two of their Irish beers, St Patrick' s Best Ale and Legbiter Ale. Not only are they aiming to supply bars in 20 states inside a few months with their Irish ales, they are now trying to direct customers to Irish bars in all 50 states to celebrate the launch! For a small brewery from Ireland, they are intent on making large waves on the other side of the Atlantic.
Irish bands are already submitting their gig dates to be listed, allowing people to see which bars have live music playing. Picture the scene, while visiting some friends in a new city, the user searches online for "Irish Bar in Long Beach, California," instead of a list of bar names they have neither heard of or know of, the search reveals that the Galway Hooker band are playing in the Auld Dubliner next Saturday night and now they have the beginnings of a great night out.
Paul Wilson of the Galway Hooker band commented, "Its' great advertising for Irish bands as well, our fans have somewhere else to hear about our gig dates and we can even list our contact information on the site for other bars, to increase our bookings."
What is hoped to continue to be the biggest directory of Irish bars in the USA will soon be made available for anyone to use in any state in North America. Bars are listed by address, zip code or area, and the site provides a range of details and maps so anyone can contact or easily find their way to any of the premises in the directory. A selection of Irish quizzes are also available on the site which can be downloaded for pub quizzes, fundraisers or family gatherings, to test everyone's knowledge on Ireland.
Strangford Lough Brewing Company also recently ran an online Battle of the Bands (BOTB1) competition with the prize of a trip and gig in Las Vegas for the winning band. Grace Mercer, BOTB1 organiser said, "Battle of the Bands was a great success! Over 60 bands entered our Irish Music competition and the winning band, "The Rogues" will be performing in Diablo's, Light Management Group (LMG) in Las Vegas on St Patrick's Day 2010. BOTB1 gave us the opportunity to talk to Irish bars across the USA, all of which are featured in Irish Beer Finder.
