North Carolina Company May Have Discovered Fountain of Youth

Studies released last week in the prestigious journal Nature showed that resveratrol fed mice high-fat diets lived at lease 15% longer than untreated animals. In addition the resveratrol fed animals seemed to be in better health than the untreated mice. Chemically produced resveratrol is not yet on the market and will require lengthy government controlled trials before it will become available. Resveratrol contained in red wine is available but great quantities will have to be drunk to achieve similar results. Unfortunately the calories and intoxicating complications of alcohol in wine make this alternative less attractive.

Most dietary supplements of resveratrol are chemical extractions from fruits so that the concentration of resveratrol can be increased. Studies have shown that Muscadine grapes native to North Carolina have extraordinary high concentrations of naturally occurring Resveratrol.
