“I’m amazed at the response that I’m getting from people about the record.” The 26-year-old Philadelphia native comes firing out of the city with his first independently produced sole project “TRAVELING.” He describes growing up in Philadelphia as growing up in a small town. “Everyone knows everyone.”

David studied piano and voice early on and is a graduate of the famed Creative & Performing Arts Highschool. “Highschool was a dream for me . . .  So many talented people.”

It was not long after highschool that David submerged himself in the music business. At 23 he found himself running a recording studio from his parents guest home. I didn’t actually plan on opening a studio. I just wanted a place where I could work on music with my friends.” Between working with friends and clients that came into the studio he was able to write and record the songs that would eventually become his first solo project.

As a songwriter he evokes feelings of passion and romance from the listener. “I think people relate to the music so easily because it’s all truth for me.” Each song on the CD comes from true and personal events which he sometimes discusses openly at live performances. Fans are compelled to share how the songs have touched them. Years ago when I began writing, much of what I wrote were things that I was  never brave enough to say. It was not until I did actually share my work that I saw people were making a connection. I’m amazed at the response that I’m getting about the record from people I meet. It assures me that I am doing what I am meant to do.”

You can find David performing all over New York promoting the Traveling Project. He says that he wanted this series of shows to center around the acoustic performances that gained him wild popularity back in his hometown. If you can’t make it out to the show then try the radio. He is attaining favor from radio station across town.

If you do have a chance to take in the live show, you can hear some of the famous glass shattering notes that blow us away on the CD. The singers amazing classically trained counter tenor voice soar over octaves in ways rarely heard and is being compared to legends like Stevie Wonder and Minnie Riperton. “Going up and down the scale over the years has given my vocal cords a little extra elasticity. It’s a fluke . . . ”

As strange as it may be, the result is a silky smooth quality that listeners from all over the city are falling in love with. With the release of “Traveling,” it is our belief that the name David Thompson will be on the lips of music lovers for a long time to come.
