VICTORY FOR LIBERTY TAX IN LAWSUIT AGAINST POWAY’S SIGN ORDINANCE

(Poway, CA)  Business owners of Liberty Tax Service, located at 13555 Midland Road, were notified that the Court ruled that Poway Municipal Code (Sign Ordinance) was unconstitutionally vague and ordered the City to refund any amounts paid by Liberty. 

Liberty Tax Service greets Poway commuters on Midland Road in colorfully dressed costumes of Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty waving at drivers passing by their Midland Road location   Last year, Liberty filed suit against the City of Poway to have the Court settle the question of whether the presence of the patriotic Liberty Tax Service greeters violate the city’s signage ordinance.  The City refers to the colorful Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty as “human signs” in violation of the general sign ordinance.
