Bluegrass Legend and Obama Girl Release Controversial Video

STANVILLE, KY (MMD Newswire) November 2, 2009 -- Some of country music's biggest stars will perform on the Late Show with David Letterman the week of Monday, Nov. 2-Friday, Nov. 6. Bluegrass Legend Dr. Ralph Stanley, 82, will round out the week on Friday, Nov. 6. Dr. Stanley won a 2002 Grammy Award in the category of Best Male Country Vocal performance. Dr. Stanley has recently released a new music video with Obama Girl (Amber Ettinger) sung to the tune of Dr. Stanley's signature song, "Man of Constant Sorrow." The music video was released by Dr. Stanley to attract the attention of President Barack Obama in an attempt to have Attorney Eric C. Conn appointed to the Social Security Advisory Board.

Stanley opens the music video and Ettinger takes over for the remainder of the video by lip-synching the lyrics that are sung by a female vocalist. Jesco White is best known for a PBS documentary during the early 90s. Recently, the producer that brought the original "Dancing Outlaw" documentary teamed up with MTV producers to spend time in Boone County, West Virginia with White and his entire family. White is shown doing his famous clog dancing in some of the music video scenes.

Stanley endorsed Obama during the presidential campaign. According to a press release from the office of Attorney Conn, "Conn hopes President Obama will take note of the influence the Bluegrass singer has in this region and the underlying favor he might owe to Stanley for his presidential endorsement." The video, filmed at the Mountain Homeplace in Johnson County, Kentucky can be viewed at www.barelypolitical.com, or on the "Obama Girl's" Youtube channel under the title "Obama Girl's New Crush."
