WORLD WAR II DAILY is the centerpiece programming of www.ww2daily.com , a new web-based entertainment broadband channel that will encompass every aspect of World War II.  One of the main features of the site will be the opportunity for children and grandchildren to post webpage tributes to relatives who are World War II era vets.  There will also be features on books, movies, television shows, events, tributes and reunions.  Guest hosts, commentators and newsreaders will also be featured.

Already in discussion with legendary newscaster Walter Cronkite to take a special commentator role on the daily podcast, as well as with both terrestrial and satellite radio broadcasters who are interested in a simulcast, Rubin literally intends to broadcast 365 days a year from www.ww2daily.com , presenting the on-going history of the war as people lived it in those days, with no benefit of hindsight.

“We have a unique opportunity here,” says Rubin, the author of Combat Films: American Realism 1945-1970 (McFarland, 1981), who recently wrote, produced and directed “East L.A. Marine,” a feature-length documentary about World War II Marine hero Guy Gabaldon.

“Because people are getting accustomed to receiving their news in short bytes that easily translate into the digital universe, we thought it was the perfect time to present the most dramatic era in our history in the most completely detailed way.  You’re going to hear the headlines and stories as they were originally reported by newspaper correspondents around the world.  Since you’re hearing the news chronologically, you will feel the visceral impact of those headlines as war spread across our planet like a dark stain.”

Each of the 2181 segments of WORLD WAR II DAILY will be approximately 2 minutes in length and will feature Cox reporting on both the main news events of the day and unusual events that were occurring simultaneous to combat news.  Helping to illustrate those events will be archival video, audio and still clips of the events of the day.

Broadcasts have begun and a team of writers, military historians, academics and history buffs are currently at work on the huge project.
