NEW INTERLOCKING BRICK FOR HOME CONSTRUCTION CAN WITHSTAND 240 MPH WINDS, IS FIRE, WATER, TERMITE AND SOUNDPROOF, NO MOLD OR MILDEW, INSULATES AT R-21 WITH LOWER OVERALL COST.
SORRENTO, FL. - 08/16/2006 - Quick-Brick USA, LLC, has received approval from Davis and Cleaton Engineering, Inc., a Florida engineering firm (Registered in 34 states) for their new interlocking, compressed earth bricks for home and commercial building construction. Groundbreaking for a demonstration home in cooperation with Seminole County, Florida, will take place at 10 AM, October 2, 2006 at the corner of Sanford Ave. and Ronald Reagan Blvd. in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
The environment in Florida is very harsh on homes, with hurricanes, floods, forest fires, termite and insect infestation, high heating and air conditioning bills, mold and mildew problems, escalating insurance premiums and maintenance cost in time and money. Many new building products offer a solution to one or more of the above problems but often at a higher price to the consumer and the environment. We can now offer the public a structural building product that is truly one with the earth (mostly clay and soil), almost two and one half times stronger than concrete block, can withstand the strongest hurricanes with no damage, waterproof at a molecular level (no expansion or contraction), fireproof (clay, soil and ash will not burn), termite and insect proof (the bricks are solid, no place to enter, breed or hide), soundproof from outside and inside noise and insulated with a heat resistance of R-21 and a thermal mass of R-45, while costing LESS to construct than a concrete block home.
The product is called a QUICKBRICK® and has been tested by certified laboratories in the United States according to ASTM testing methods and standards. Quickbricks interlock on four sides and are glued together with “Liquid Nails”®. The bricks are solid and dense but can be cut, drilled, routed and sanded with wood working tools. A one inch square hole is created when two bricks interlock, providing a chase for electrical conduit and water pipes. Once painted, the brick becomes 100% waterproof because of its density. They measure 8” X 8” X 4 ½” high and weigh approximately 19 lbs each. All walls in the home are made with Quickbricks, exterior and interior. The brick will never expand or contract, which allows for a precision never before seen in homebuilding. There is very little cement in the brick, so paint will not crack, chalk or peel as it does with other structural building products. Fewer skilled workers are needed and the home can be built weeks faster for less overall cost when compared to concrete block construction.
